LCD Glass Panels
LCD Glass Panels
An LCD glass panel is the bare LCD glass itself — supplied without a backlight, PCB, or controller assembly — for the lowest cost, thinnest profile, and simplest segment or digit readouts on battery-powered and cost-sensitive products. Orient Display stocks standard glass panels in a Seattle warehouse with no minimum order on most models, and supports custom segment layouts and pinouts under the same OD-series part family.

Glass panel specifications
Standard ranges across the OD-series glass panel family. Custom segment layouts and pinouts are supported to order.
Reflective and transflective, no backlight required
Reflective panels suit bright, consistently-lit environments; transflective panels stay readable across both dim and bright ambient light. Neither needs a backlight, which is what keeps a glass panel the lowest-power, lowest-cost LCD option.
How it differs from the other LCD families: a glass panel is the display component only, with no module around it — you provide the drive and connection. For a ready-to-drive text module choose Character LCD; for graphics choose Graphic LCD or JAZZ Graphic LCD.
Typical applications
Meters and gauges, thermostats and controls, medical and test instruments, and low-power battery products where a segment readout is enough.
