Why Orient Display

Where our displays go in medical equipment

Medical programs run on long design cycles, multi-year part availability, and readouts that stay legible in the conditions the device is used in. We match the display to those constraints and support the engineering from part selection through production — not a catalog part dropped into a clinical enclosure.

Applications & engineering fit

Device classes and the engineering behind them

OD has engineered custom displays for medical and diagnostic equipment across the device classes below, built to the durability, clarity, and cleanability those environments demand.

Device categories we've engineered displays for:

Diagnostic & laboratory analyzers — blood analysis, molecular diagnostics, and DNA-test instruments Therapy instruments Handheld & portable medical devices

Engineering we typically bring to these programs:

Optical bonding for sunlight readability and a rugged, sealed stack Anti-glare & anti-fingerprint surface treatments for clinical readability and cleanability Chemically strengthened cover glass Projected-capacitive touch with custom cover-lens shapes and silk-screen printing EMI shielding for sensitive instrumentation
Certifications & quality

The quality system a medical buyer qualifies against

What Orient Display holds today, stated plainly — and, marked in amber, the medical-grade standards a device program may require that are not yet substantiated for these modules. Nothing amber should be read as a held certification.

ISO 13485 — medical device quality management

Orient Display operates an ISO 13485 quality management system for medical device work — the medical QMS certification, held today. It governs document control, traceability discipline, and change management across the build. The current certificate, with its scope and validity, is provided on request.

General quality and compliance certifications we hold, applied across all industries — current certificates and declarations provided on request:

ISO 9001 QC 080000 RoHS REACH UL listing

Medical-grade standards a device program may require — not substantiated for these modules today, and not to be read as met:

IEC 60601-1 medical electrical safety DICOM Part 14 grayscale calibration IEC 62304 device software lifecycle ISO 10993 biocompatibility ISO 14971 risk management file

Medical QMS mechanics a buyer may ask for — also unconfirmed for these modules: design controls with Device History File (DHF/DMR) support, a validated CAPA system, and IQ/OQ/PQ process validation. Holding ISO 13485 is not the same as meeting medical-grade device standards; those remain to be proven per program.

Requirements we build to

What a medical qualification asks of the display supplier

The constraints a medical device program brings to a display, and where Orient Display's proven capability meets them — with anything not yet substantiated for medical use marked in amber, never implied.

Shared capability · de-risking your supply chain

Non-China country-of-origin options, by tier

For programs with sourcing constraints, four escalating country-of-origin paths — a manufacturing capability offered across every industry, at capability level.

Tier 1

Non-China-origin shipping

Production in Thailand or Malaysia using Chinese components, shipping from a non-China origin.

Tier 2

COO-qualifying

A build configured so a Certificate of Origin can be issued for the finished module.

Tier 3

Zero-China-factor

Production through a Taiwan partner with no Chinese bill-of-materials content.

Tier 4

NCNT on request

A No-China, No-Taiwan sourcing path available on request for the most constrained programs.

Shared capability · lifecycle & documentation

Built for the length of your program

Hardware programs run long qualification cycles and long production lives. We plan the engagement around that.

Long design-in cycle

We support the extended qualification and design-in cycle a hardware program runs, from concept spec to production release.

10-year availability

Once a module is designed in, we commit to 10-year availability, so a qualified display does not force a mid-cycle redesign.

Long-lived supplier

An established manufacturer that will still be here across the product's service life, so a designed-in display keeps its source.

Specs & samples on demand

Full specifications, application notes, evaluation kits, and driver-IC documentation available to your engineers.

24-hour US sample shipping

Samples ship from the US within 24 hours, so evaluation starts without an overseas wait.

US engineering support

In-house US engineers guide part selection, touch integration, and initialization alongside the factory.

Lifecycle & change control

Our written commitments to a medical program

A device qualified on our display should not be pushed into a redesign or an unplanned requalification. These are the terms we commit to in writing.

10-year availability

10-year availability for a designed-in module, so a qualified display does not force a mid-cycle redesign.

6-month PCN notice

A 6-month PCN notice before any product change.

12-month EOL notice

A 12-month EOL notice before a product is discontinued.

6-month last-time buy

A 6-month last-time-buy window after an EOL notice.

BOM lock on request

A BOM lock on request: no component or process change without your written approval.

10-year lot traceability

Lot traceability records kept for 10 years.

Common questions

Medical buyer FAQ

Do you hold ISO 13485?

Yes. Orient Display operates an ISO 13485 quality management system for medical device work today, alongside ISO 9001 and QC 080000 as general quality certifications. Current certificates are provided on request.

Can you supply sunlight-readable or wide-temperature variants?

Yes. Sunlight-readable IPS panels, high-brightness backlighting, wide-temperature operation, ruggedization, waterproofing, and optical bonding are all standard custom capabilities.

Are your displays medical-grade to IEC 60601-1 and DICOM?

Orient Display holds ISO 13485. Medical-grade electrical safety to IEC 60601-1 and DICOM Part 14 grayscale calibration are not substantiated for these modules today — we will not represent a display as medical-grade until those are met and documented. Tell us the specific standard your device must satisfy.

What are your lead times for samples and custom production?

Samples typically ship in 3–6 weeks and production runs in 4–8 weeks, depending on configuration; US samples ship within 24 hours where stocked.

Can you supply non-China country-of-origin for a medical program?

Yes, as a capability — four escalating tiers from non-China-origin shipping through a No-China, No-Taiwan path on request. See the de-risking section above.

Do you support DHF and regulatory-submission documentation?

Design History File (DHF) contribution and regulatory-submission documentation support (510(k), material and biocompatibility certifications) are not yet confirmed for these modules — raise your documentation requirements with us and we will tell you what we can support today.

What lifecycle and change-control terms do you commit to?

In writing: 10-year availability, a 6-month PCN notice before any product change, a 12-month EOL notice, a 6-month last-time-buy window after an EOL notice, a BOM lock on request (no component or process change without your written approval), and lot traceability records kept for 10 years. See the lifecycle & change-control policy.
