Displays built to read on the water
Custom display manufacturer with in-house US engineering support, building sunlight-readable and wet-environment display modules for marine electronics — from chartplotters and fish finders to helm instruments.
Where our displays go on the water
Marine readouts have to stay legible against glare off the water, keep working when they are wet and gloved, and survive years of spray and vibration at the helm. We build sunlight-readable panels, reflective and transflective glass, and wet-tolerant touch for exactly those conditions, and support the engineering from part selection through production — not a catalog part dropped behind a helm.
Helm chartplotter in direct sun
Chartplotters & GPS
Sunlight-readable IPS and transflective TFT for chartplotters and marine GPS that must stay readable in direct sun and off-axis at the helm.
Fish finder sonar readout at the console
Fish finders & sonar
Monochrome and multi-color graphic LCD modules for fish finders and sonar readouts — sharp waveforms and bar graphs without the cost of a full color display.
Multifunction marine gauge at the helm
Onboard instruments
High-ambient TFT for marine instruments and gauges — engine, depth, wind, and multifunction gauges that read across a bright cockpit.
Wet helm touchscreen with spray
Helm touch controls
Capacitive and resistive touch panels for multifunction helm displays, with resistive built to keep working wet, salted, or gloved.
The quality system behind a marine build
What Orient Display holds today, stated plainly — and, marked in amber, the marine-specific standards a shipboard program may require that are not substantiated for these modules. Nothing amber should be read as a held certification.
ISO 9001 and QC 080000 — quality management, held today
Orient Display holds ISO 9001 and QC 080000, with RoHS and REACH material compliance and UL listing, applied across all industries. These govern document control, traceability, and change management across the build; the marine type-approval and ingress standards below are program-specific and not yet substantiated for these modules.
General quality and compliance certifications we hold, applied across all industries:
Marine-specific standards and approvals a shipboard program may require — not substantiated for these modules today, and not to be read as met:
Marine environmental qualification a buyer may ask for — also unconfirmed for these modules: wide-temperature operation qualified to a marine bridge-equipment spec and shock and vibration endurance to a shipborne-equipment profile. Holding general quality certifications is not the same as meeting marine equipment standards; those remain to be proven for a given build.

The constraints a marine program brings to a display, and where Orient Display's proven capability meets them — with anything not yet substantiated for marine qualification marked in amber, never implied.
Environmental & optical
- Sunlight-readable, high-brightness IPS and transflective TFT with anti-glare treatment for glare off the water
- Reflective and transflective glass panels that stay readable in bright ambient light on the lowest power
- Optical bonding to cut internal reflection and condensation between glass and panel
- LCD heater option for cold-weather and low-temperature startup
- IP67 / IP68 sealed front glass against spray, wash-down, and immersion
- Salt-fog-tested, conformal-coated corrosion resistance for prolonged marine exposure
Documentation & traceability
- Full specifications, application notes, evaluation-kit instructions, and driver-IC specs on request
- Samples and US engineering support from part selection through production
- Component-level traceability and product genealogy to a marine OEM's standard
- Marine type-approval test reports and classification-society submission documentation
Regulatory & process
- RoHS and REACH material compliance and UL listing as a baseline
- Design-in from a standard module, guided by our engineering team, to a manufacturable spec
- IEC 60945 shipborne-equipment compliance and EMC to marine bridge limits
- Wide-temperature marine operating qualification and locked-BOM change control
Non-China country-of-origin options, by tier
For programs with sourcing constraints, four escalating country-of-origin paths — a manufacturing capability offered across every industry, at capability level.
Non-China-origin shipping
Production in Thailand or Malaysia using Chinese components, shipping from a non-China origin.
COO-qualifying
A build configured so a Certificate of Origin can be issued for the finished module.
Zero-China-factor
Production through a Taiwan partner with no Chinese bill-of-materials content.
NCNT on request
A No-China, No-Taiwan sourcing path available on request for the most constrained programs.
Built for the length of your program
Hardware programs run long qualification cycles and long production lives. We plan the engagement around that.
Long design-in cycle
We support the extended qualification and design-in cycle a hardware program runs, from concept spec to production release.
Multi-year part retention
Once a module is designed in, we hold it in production across the product's life, so a qualified display does not force a mid-cycle redesign.
Long-lived supplier
An established manufacturer that will still be here across the product's service life, so a designed-in display keeps its source.
Specs & samples on demand
Full specifications, application notes, evaluation kits, and driver-IC documentation available to your engineers.
24-hour US sample shipping
Samples ship from the US within 24 hours, so evaluation starts without an overseas wait.
US engineering support
In-house US engineers guide part selection, touch integration, and initialization alongside the factory.
Marine buyer FAQ
Can you supply sunlight-readable displays for the helm?
Yes. Sunlight-readable high-brightness IPS, transflective TFT, anti-glare treatment, reflective glass panels, and optical bonding are all standard custom capabilities for reading against glare on the water.
Do your touch panels keep working when they are wet or salted?
Resistive touch is liquid-resistant — it keeps registering presses through water, salt water, oil, and solvent, and works gloved, which is why it suits an open helm. Capacitive is available where multi-touch and a glass front matter more. A fully salt-fog-qualified or IP67/IP68-sealed enclosure rating for the finished module is confirmed per build, not assumed.
Are your displays marine-certified to IEC 60945 or classification-society approved?
Orient Display builds to marine environmental requirements as a capability. Type approval to IEC 60945 or a classification society (DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register) is not substantiated for these modules today — we will not represent a display as marine-certified until it is met and documented. Tell us the standard your equipment must satisfy and we will scope what that build requires.
Can you handle cold-weather and wide-temperature operation?
We offer wide-temperature panel variants and an LCD heater option for cold-weather startup. A specific marine wide-temperature operating qualification is confirmed against your temperature profile rather than assumed.
What are your lead times for samples and custom production?
Samples typically ship in 3–6 weeks and production runs in 4–8 weeks, depending on configuration; US samples ship within 24 hours where stocked.
Can you supply non-China country-of-origin for a marine program?
Yes, as a capability — four escalating tiers from non-China-origin shipping through a No-China, No-Taiwan path on request. See the de-risking section above.
