Electronic Shelf Labels & Digital Signage
Retail shelf edge with electronic shelf labels · full-bleed
Electronic shelf labels & signage
Displays built for the shelf edge and signage
Custom display manufacturer building low-power e-paper and sunlight-readable modules for electronic shelf labels, price tags, and digital signage — with in-house US engineering support from spec through production.
Displays built for shelf-edge and signage deployments
Shelf labels and signage live on the reflective, low-power, sunlight-readable end of display design — exactly where e-paper and reflective IPS TFT sit. We match the panel to the deployment, from a fingertip-sized price tag to a large-format board, and support the engineering from part selection through production.
Electronic shelf label on retail shelf edge
Electronic shelf labels & price tags
Reflective e-paper from 1.54″ upward that holds crisp text and barcodes without continuous power — the right panel for high-count shelf-edge and price-tag deployments where each label runs on its own cell.
Digital menu board in a store
Digital signage & menu boards
Sunlight-readable IPS TFT up to 32″ with high-brightness backlighting and optical bonding for retail digital signage and menu boards that must read clearly under bright ambient light.
Transit wayfinding information panel
Wayfinding & transit information
Reflective e-paper and wide-temperature TFT for wayfinding panels and transit and public-information displays, including outdoor and shaded-vestibule placements where power and legibility both matter.
E-paper reusable name badge
Name badges & reflective signage
Small, low-power e-paper for reusable name badges, meeting-room and desk signage, and other IoT-connected labels that update infrequently and must stay readable while idle.
The quality system behind the modules
What Orient Display holds today, stated plainly — and, marked in amber, the deployment-specific ratings and radio certifications an ESL or signage program may require that are not substantiated for these modules. Nothing amber should be read as a held certification.
General quality and compliance certifications we hold, applied across all industries:
Deployment-specific certifications and ratings an ESL or signage program may require — not substantiated for these modules today, and not to be read as met:
Field-performance figures a buyer may ask us to warrant — also unconfirmed for these modules: quantified multi-year battery life at a stated update cadence, a specified signage brightness in nits, and a rated wide operating-temperature window for outdoor placement. Ask us about the specific rating your deployment must meet and we will tell you what we can substantiate today.

The constraints an ESL or signage deployment brings to a display, and where Orient Display's proven capability meets them — with anything not yet substantiated for these modules marked in amber, never implied.
Environmental & optical
- Reflective, bistable e-paper that holds its image without continuous power draw — the core panel for battery-run shelf labels
- Sunlight-readable IPS TFT and high-brightness backlighting for bright-ambient retail and outdoor signage
- Optical bonding and wide viewing angles for legibility off-axis and under glare
- A rated wide operating-temperature window for cold-chain and outdoor placement
- IP65/IP67 sealed ingress rating for exposed outdoor enclosures
- A specified signage brightness in nits for direct-sun readability
Documentation & traceability
- Full specifications, application notes, evaluation-kit instructions, and driver-IC specs on request
- Samples and engineering support from part selection through production
- Component-level part retention so a qualified label or board is not forced into redesign
- Component-level traceability and product genealogy to a retail-program standard
- Third-party battery-life and field-reliability test reports
Wireless & process
- RoHS and REACH material compliance and UL listing as a baseline
- Design-in from a standard module, guided by our engineering team, to a manufacturable spec
- Integrated 2.4 GHz, sub-GHz, BLE, or NFC wireless subsystem
- FCC and CE radio certification for the wireless subsystem
- Low-power firmware co-design for a target multi-year field life
Non-China country-of-origin options, by tier
For programs with sourcing constraints, four escalating country-of-origin paths — a manufacturing capability offered across every industry, at capability level.
Non-China-origin shipping
Production in Thailand or Malaysia using Chinese components, shipping from a non-China origin.
COO-qualifying
A build configured so a Certificate of Origin can be issued for the finished module.
Zero-China-factor
Production through a Taiwan partner with no Chinese bill-of-materials content.
NCNT on request
A No-China, No-Taiwan sourcing path available on request for the most constrained programs.
Built for the length of your program
Hardware programs run long qualification cycles and long production lives. We plan the engagement around that.
Long design-in cycle
We support the extended qualification and design-in cycle a hardware program runs, from concept spec to production release.
Multi-year part retention
Once a module is designed in, we hold it in production across the product's life, so a qualified display does not force a mid-cycle redesign.
Long-lived supplier
An established manufacturer that will still be here across the product's service life, so a designed-in display keeps its source.
Specs & samples on demand
Full specifications, application notes, evaluation kits, and driver-IC documentation available to your engineers.
24-hour US sample shipping
Samples ship from the US within 24 hours, so evaluation starts without an overseas wait.
US engineering support
In-house US engineers guide part selection, touch integration, and initialization alongside the factory.
ESL & signage buyer FAQ
Do you make e-paper displays for shelf labels?
Yes. E-paper from 1.54″ to 7.5″ is a core Orient Display product line, built for reflective, low-power applications including electronic shelf labels, price tags, name badges, and reflective signage. The panels are bistable, so they hold an image without continuous power.
Can you supply sunlight-readable displays for outdoor signage?
Yes. Sunlight-readable IPS TFT, high-brightness backlighting, wide viewing angles, and optical bonding are standard custom capabilities for bright-ambient and outdoor signage.
What battery life can you guarantee for a shelf label?
E-paper draws power only when the image changes, which is what makes multi-year field life achievable in this category. A specific quantified battery-life figure at a stated update cadence depends on the wireless subsystem, refresh pattern, and cell you choose — tell us your deployment and we will substantiate what we can rather than warrant a number we have not measured for your build.
Do the modules include the wireless radio and its certification?
Orient Display builds the display module. Integrated 2.4 GHz, sub-GHz, BLE, or NFC wireless and FCC/CE radio certification for that subsystem are not substantiated for these modules today — raise your connectivity requirement with us and we will tell you what we can support.
Can you supply non-China country-of-origin for a retail rollout?
Yes, as a capability — four escalating tiers from non-China-origin shipping through a No-China, No-Taiwan path on request. See the de-risking section above.
What are your lead times for samples and custom production?
Samples typically ship in 3–6 weeks and production runs in 4–8 weeks, depending on configuration; US samples ship within 24 hours where stocked.
